Coty, known as the world’s largest fragrance company, has aimed to diversify and capture more of the skin care market over the last few years, acquiring some promising assets along the way. Now, the company that has recently gone public is ramping things up, bringing in a prominent marketing executive in the beauty industry. Jill Scalamandre has come on board to head the Philosophy skin care brand, which Coty annexed in 2011. Scalamandre also serves as chairwoman of Cosmetic Executive Women and most recently was chief marketing officer at Chrysallis Inc., a private equity firm.

Prior to Chrysallis, Scalamandre served as senior vice president of global beauty brands at Avon Products Inc. In her new position, she reports to Jean Mortier, president of Coty Prestige, who is based in Paris, and Marc Rey, president of Coty Prestige U.S. and regional vice president of Coty Prestige North America, who is based in New York. Philosophy’s commercial and marketing teams and R&D functions will also move to the East Coast from Phoenix, AZ, where they are currently based.
